It is the season for plein air painting! What I love about painting outdoors, is the endless supply of inspiration for interpreting the landscape. “En plein air” is French for “in the open air”. Artists capture the spirit and essence of a landscape. I find my work on location often has an increased sense of place that isn’t always present in more planned studio work.
There is also more opportunity for challenges that are present in the control of a studio. So far this season I have dealt with rain drops, wind, poison ivy, a tick bite, inquisitive hikers, and pets. But, I enjoy the experience of feeling more alive as express my response to the beauty of the Cape.
I haven’t posted on WordPress for many months. In the meantime I have posted on other platforms where I have more followers. But, I thought I would give this a go. So, if you have any questions or comments, let me know.
